STOP THE GOSSIP JAR SPELL

No matter how many times we may say, "Keep my name out yo' mouth," there's always someone with an agenda who won't stop until they are stopped. This is where a solid jar spell comes in handy.

Here's a little something to help you still the tongue of a liar and hater who has it out for you. This is some powerful magick, so only use it if the person is causing you harm with their words (like jeopardizing your job).

ITEMS NEEDED

• Medium glass jar with a cover

• Black candle (fights evil)

• Cloves (stops others from gossiping about you)

• Slippery elm (halts gossip)

• Bay leaf (protection)

• Rice (protection)

• Sliced ginger root (power)

• Selenite (a light hex breaker) or Obsidian (hex breaking with a heavier hand)

• Dragon's blood incense (potency)

WHAT TO DO

• Ground and center

• Cast a circle and call the four quarters if this aligns with your belief system

• With a pin or needle, write the name of the person on the black candle

• Light the incense and hold the jar over the top (open side down) and allow to fill with smoke

• Melt a bit of the wax on the bottom of the candle and stand it firmly in the center of the jar so the wax will gather in the bottom of the jar as the candle melts

• As the candle burns, think of the person whose name you wrote on the candle. Visualize them with their lips sewn together, preventing them from speaking. See them struggling to speak, but unable to separate their lips. Hold this vision for 15-20 minutes

• Snuff out the candle

• Repeat the candle ritual for 3 nights, using the same candle each night

• On the third night, allow the candle to burn down completely

• On the third night, add the slippery elm, cloves and crystals over the wax

• Layer the ginger root on top and then top that with the bay leaf

• Pour the rice on top and cover the jar

• Know that your intentions will manifest.

• Keep the bottle somewhere safe (the freezer is a good idea, or bury it in the yard, or place it on your altar if you plan to keep working this spell)

COMMUNICATION JAR SPELL

This spell is for when you would like to create clearer, more positive, less restrictive, and/or honest communication with someone.

• Start by writing the name of the person you want to communicate with on two separate pieces of paper.

• Fill a clean, clear jar with a handful of dried or fresh sage leaves and salt.

• Place the two pieces of paper inside the jar.

• Leave the lid off and the jar open.

• Gently, swirl contents around in jar until both pieces of paper are covered. While swirling, visualize yourself having an honest and productive conversation with the person.

• Leave the jar open in the area you are likely to engage the person, or remove the slips of paper, fold them together, and keep them tucked inside your pocket during your conversations.

BINDING JAR SPELL #2

Is there someone you wish to place restrictions on to keep them from causing harm to self or others? Try this binding ritual. Note that this may or may not work on a witch, especially if they suspect you are manipulating energy against them, but I've found it to work in varying degrees on most non-witchy folks.

ITEMS NEEDED

• Glass jar with lid

• Photograph of the person, or personal items belonging to the person

• 1 white ribbon

• Sea salt

• Canning wax

WHAT TO DO

• If you are a Reiki Practitioner, this is the perfect time to invoke Hon Sha Ze sho Nen (HSZSN) for added power. Draw or visualize the symbol and say HSZSN 3 times. If you are not attuned to HSZSN, this spell will still work.

• Wrap the white ribbon around the photo, tying 9 knots. As you are wrapping see the person departing unharmed and in peace.

• Say:

I bind you (their name). You are bound from causing harm to yourself or anyone else.

• Continue to repeat these words until the photo is completely wrapped.

• If you are a Reiki Practitioner, send Cho Ku Rei (CKR) to the glass jar. Draw or visualize the symbol and say CKR 3 times. Place the photo or item in the glass jar.

• Say:

I hold you with all the power of the great MotherFatherGoddess (or other omnipotent being of your belief).

• Pour sea salt into the glass jar, making sure the entire photo is covered.

• Melt the wax and pour a few drops on top of the salt and say:

I bind you from causing harm to yourself or anyone else.

• Seal the container and bury it in the north end of your yard.

• Give thanks to the universe for supporting this work in the name of peace and love.

• Tell no one what you have done.

BINDING JAR SPELL #1

I don't usually perform or recommend rituals and spells that manipulate the will of others, but a Wiccan friend reminded me of the difference between revenge magick and protective magick.

I will intervene when someone is committing violent harmful and dangerous acts against others. Sometimes people in violent relationships are unable to think clearly and may require help from someone close to them to loosen the stronghold over their lives. The tricky part of a spell like this one is the person against whom the violence is committed must genuinely want it to end. Surprisingly, this is not always the case.

ITEMS NEEDED

• Photo of the person to be bound or a piece of white parchment paper with their whole name written on it in black ink for dove's blood ink.

• 18" of black silken cord

• Small glass jar with corked lid

• Small white candle

• Small black candle

WHAT TO DO

• Light both candles.

• Write the name on the paper hold the photograph in your hand. Fold the paper or photo into as small a rectangle as possible.

• Begin to wind the cord around the rectangle, making complete loops 9 times.

• Say aloud in a clear and strong voice:

I (Your Name), bind thee (Target's Name) from causing harm to (Victim's Name), from exerting control over this person, and from influencing this person. I bind you from making further plans with this person. I call upon the angels, Auriel, Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael to assist me in this righteous cause. As I will, so mote it be.

• Place the paper or photo into the jar. Urinate into the jar and cork it. Seal all around the cork with black candle wax.

• Allow candles to burn out completely. Place the jar in a place where no one will disturb it. If possible, bury it, or place it on your altar where you can regularly send energy into it.

JAR RECIPE TO AMPLIFY PSYCHIC ABILITIES

This is a wonderfully powerful jar that supports Tarot readings, psychic readings, dream interpretations, or any other scrying, divination or psychic work.

Fill one jar with the following herbs. Dried or fresh will work.

• Allspice - for healing

• Basil - for protection

• Cinnamon - for dream magick

• Fennel Seeds - for spiritual healing

• Garlic - for spiritual protection

• Ginger - for moon magick

• Marjoram - for protection

• Nutmeg - for good luck

• Place the lid on the jar and place on your altar. Before doing psychic work, shake gently, remove lid and inhale deeply.

HOUSE PROTECTION JAR SPELL

• Mixing bowl

• Pour 9 herbs into the mixing bowl one at a time. As you pour each one in say:

(Name of herb) that protects, protect my home and all within.

• After all herbs have been added, mix them together with your hands. Visualize your home as a safe and secure space.

• Cap the bottle and bury it outside in front of your front step. If you live in an apartment, place the jar in a place where it is out of view, but near your doorway.

CONFLICT RESOLUTION

This recipe for smoothing-over powder can be used any time to ease conflicts in the workplace. It is best prepared in your kitchen or at your altar during a new moon or on a Friday. To use, sprinkle around the building where the conflict took/is taking place, or burn at your altar on a charcoal disc.

ITEMS NEEDED

• 1 tbs. dried lavender

• 1 tbs. dried St. John’s Wort

• 1 tbs. dried meadowsweet

• Mortar and pestle or grinder

• 1 tbs. sea salt or black salt

• Funnel

• Glass jar with a lid

WHAT TO DO

• Start work in a clean space - altar or kitchen

• Grind the herbs in a mortar an pestle or grinder while focusing on your intentions.

• While grinding, chant 3 times:

Defuse, calm, soothe, and resolve.

• Sprinkle salt into the herb mixture and combine

• Use a funnel to pour the powder into a jar.
