ANCESTRAL ALTAR BLESSING

Our ancestors have laid a foundation upon which we can work toward higher good for ourselves, our families, the world and the universe. In the spirit realm, there are many advisors, guides and protectors waiting to help us navigate day-to-day life events. They want us to have what we want, remember who we are, and to be happy and successful in this life. An ancestral altar is a space to welcome the energy of the dead who have loved you and who, perhaps, have been friendly in your dreams and meditations. By erecting an altar, you are sending an invitation that opens you and your space to their visitations and messages, especially in times of need.

  • Meditate quietly for a few minutes. Think about what you want your altar to embody. Growth. Creativity. Peace. Health. Well being. Whatever speaks to your soul.

  • While doing this work, play music that inspires and uplifts you. My favorite is Attributes by Crystal Noldon.

  • Allow your mind to drift and pay attention to the words and images that appear. Archangel Raphael is a frequent energy I experience when working on my altar.

  • When you feel moved to do so, open your eyes and draft your own blessing. It doesn't have to be perfect. It can be a simple space dedication or an invocation to a specific angel or ancestor.

  • Close your eyes and continue to listen to your music.

  • When you feel moved to do so, open your eyes and write a second draft of your blessing, or tweak your first draft.

  • After your blessing is written, move on to adding cleansing or erecting your altar. When finished, speak your blessing over the space.
