SIT FOR A SPELL

This spell is for whenever you need to stimulate motivation and inspiration to get going. You’ll want to set aside at least 30 minutes of quiet time.

ITEMS NEEDED

  • White candle

  • White mug

  • Peppermint essential oil

  • Spicy-scented incense (cinnamon, ginger, cardamom)

  • Sprig of mint

  • Warm milk (cow’s milk, oat milk, almond milk, rice milk, etc.)

  • Cinnamon sticks

WHAT TO DO

  • Anoint a white candle with peppermint essential oil

  • Light candle, speaking your intention into the flame.

  • Light incense and place in censer or incense holder

  • Add milk to a pot and heat to just before boiling. Stir constantly as follows:

    • Clockwise to attract positivity

    • Counter-clockwise to release unwanted energy or for banishment

    • Pentagram for general spell work

  • When hot, pour milk into mug adding cinnamon sticks and mint.

  • Stir according to the direction of your intentions (see step 4 above).

  • Say:

Herb of mint and spicy mead,

Today is the day I shall succeed,

  • Sit quietly and enjoy this magical hot beverage. Use this time to visualize your desires.

ESSENTIAL OILS FOR ALLERGIES

Probably one of the most frustrating things that we may or may not have control over is allergies. Regardless of your age, weight, and race. Chances are that you’re suffering from seasonal allergies, which happen to make a ritualistic appearance every year during the winter and spring. Either this or your allergies appear when you’re around house pets, certain plants that bloom, freshly cut grass, or when you’re in an area filled with dust.

We may be prone to taking medication each time our allergies pop up or unfortunately allow them to be until they go away. The best alternative treatment for treating allergies is essential oils, some of the best essential oils to use for your allergies are:

  • Eucalyptus Oil: This essential oil has amazing anti-inflammatory properties that are suitable for treating congestion when necessary. It’s recommended that you breathe in Eucalyptus oil, it’s said to have a very cooling sensation and quickly helps in relieving your allergies. The best way to use this oil is by diffusing it and breathing it in, this will give you some comfort. This could reduce your allergy symptoms enough for you to experience comfort. However, eucalyptus oil can cause some people to have allergy attacks. It’s recommended that you check in with your doctor before attempting to use this amazing essential oil

  • Lemon Oil: Not only does this amazing essential oil increase and improve your level of energy and overall alertness,  but it also assists in reducing your congestion and sinus symptoms along with your seasonal allergy symptoms. When it comes to using Lemon Essential oil or any other citrus-scented oils it’s best to avoid visiting a tanning salon, soon after use. The best way to use Lemon oil to help in the reduction of your seasonal allergies is by diffusing it into the air. This will help reduce your overall seasonal allergy symptoms.

  • Peppermint Oil: This great essential oil has been known to reduce inflammation in and on the body. Peppermint oil will not only improve your breathing, but it will also any form of congestion you might have. Peppermint oil can be combined with lemon oil or even lavender oil to enhance the amazing effects it has on allergies. The best ways to use this oil is either by partial diluting it with a carrier oil and applying it to your skin or by diffusing it to improve your breathing and reduce your overall symptoms. It’s best to be cautious when mixing peppermint oil with another, it could potentially make your allergies worse.

  • Tea Tree: Probably one of the most popular essential oils around the world. Tea tree is highly recognized for its amazing anti-inflammatory properties amongst others. Tea tree oil has been known to reduce the annoying and sometimes debilitating allergy symptoms. The best way to use tea tree oil is by diffusing it into the air or directly breathing it in from the bottle.

There are a few things to note:

- Tea tree oil could trigger allergic reactions in a few people.

- This essential oil should not be ingested at any cost.

- Do a patch test before applying this oil to your skin

When it comes to essential oils, regardless of the research you’ve done and how amazing it might seem, it’s always important to keep your doctor in the loop. It’s also best to avoid essential oils when you’re breastfeeding or pregnant. Keeping children away from any essential oil is highly important unless stated otherwise by your medical professional.

JUDGMENT FREE BATH RITUAL FOR SELF-TRUST

The purpose of this bath ritual is to release judgment and instill trust in your own intuition. You will also open yourself to receive abundance and grace.

ITEMS NEEDED

  • 1 c. Epsom salt

  • 1 c. pink rose petals

  • 2 tbs. activated charcoal

  • 2 tbs. spirulina

  • 1 c. any kind of milk

  • 3 sliced oranges

  • 1 cinnamon stick

  • 1 charcoal disk for burning

  • Cauldron or other fireproof dish

  • 12 d. jasmine essential oil

  • 12 d. sweet orange essential oil

  • 1 amethyst crystal

WHAT TO DO

  • Place all ingredients into a tub of water at the temperature of your choosing

  • Place an amethyst crystal on the edge of the tub or in the water

  • Ignite a cinnamon stick and waft the smoke around

  • Place cinnamon stick in fireproof dish on top of lighted charcoal disk

  • Step into bath and submerge your head underwater

  • Rise to the surface and sing a song that helps you open yourself for release of negative energy

  • Take 10 deep cleansing breaths

  • Sit and soak in the magic you’ve created

  • After the bath, clean the area and rest with your legs up the wall for 10 minutes

ESSENTIAL OIL RITUAL FOR PROTECTION

ITEMS NEEDED

  • Geranium essential oil

  • Rose essential oil

  • Clary sage essential oil

  • 4 white candles

  • 3 green candles

  • 1 white sheet

  • Bowl of water

  • Bowl of salt


WHAT TO DO

The suggested essential oils are powerful protectants that strengthen and balance the energy body, raise vibrations and shields against negative energies. Diffuse your chosen oil into the room or rub into palms and inhale several times while performing the following ritual.

  • Place the white sheet on a table or other flat surface.

  • Sprinkle a little water (holy water is great but any water will do) over the sheet.

  • Sprinkle a little salt over the sheet.

  • Place the 4 white candles about 12” apart. Place the 3 green candles in a straight line slightly in front of the white ones, they should be about 6” apart.

  • Sit in a high back or other comfortable chair and face the candles as you light them. Repeat the following prayer/invocation or something similar::


Dear God, I pray that you will protect me from harm, from evil, and from all thoughts of wickedness that may be directed against me of those I love. Dear God, I pray that you will wrap my body and the bodies of my family and all who live in this house in the protective cloak of your eternal love. Dear God, please disperse the evil energy and thoughts that may have been directed against all those living in this house.

  • Repeat the invocation 7 times while looking into the flames of the candles. To close, say a prayer of your choice or use the following:


Dear God, thank you for hearing my prayers. Please forgive those that would trespass against members of my family and myself. Please bring peace and understanding to those who would spitefully use me. Allow me to live in the protection and love of your eternal light now and forevermore.

EVENING REMEDY POTION

This potion works best in the evening when you can spend time in moonlight.

ITEMS NEEDED

  • 2 d. rosemary essential oil

  • 3 d. bergamot essential oil

  • 2 d. jasmine oil

  • 3 d. lavender oil

  • 6 d. fractionated coconut oil

WHAT TO DO

  • Blend all oils in a shallow glass bowl.

  • Remove your shoes and take a brief walk outside for grounding.

  • Close your eyes and lift your eyes to the moon.

  • Say:

Bright moon goddess, eternal and wise,

Give your strength to me now.

As I breathe, you are alive in me for this night.

Health to all, calm to me.

So mote it be.

  • Rub one drop of your remedy potion on pulse points (both wrists, behind ear loves, base of neck, behind each knee).

  • Relax in a comfortable position and enjoy the magick you’ve created.

AROMATHERAPY: 9 TIPS FOR AROMATHERAPY NEWBIES

I remember when I first discovered aromatherapy several years ago. I was fascinated by essential oils and excited to try using them. Looking back, I realize I should have done a bit more research before diving into aromatherapy. I offer you the advice I wish I’d had when I was an aromatherapy novice:

 

  1. Buy One or Two Aromatherapy Books: Choose just one or two books to start your aromatherapy library. Select books that are general resources, which will give you some basic information and help you discover the areas in which you have the most interest. 

  2.  Join Aromatherapy Discussion Forums: Wellness Uprising facilitates the Powerful Rituals & Magick Facebook Group. Instagram pages, Facebook Groups and other forums are great resources for aromatherapy newbies. Read past discussions, ask questions, and learn from others.

  3. Choose Five or Ten Essential Oils to Start: Though you may be tempted to buy more, try to begin with just five or ten different essential oils. Essential oils can be quite expensive, so you may want to experiment with a few at first and then invest in more if you decide to pursue aromatherapy further.

  4. Make Sure to Buy 100%, Pure, Unadulterated Essential Oils: When you buy essential oils, choose a well-known and reputable manufacturer. Synthetic, fragrance, and perfume oils are not essential oils; they contain man-made chemicals and have no aromatherapeutic value.

  5. Buy at Least One Carrier Oil: For nearly all topical aromatherapy applications, you will need to dilute essential oils into a carrier oil. Good all-purpose carrier oils include sweet almond oil, sunflower oil, and grapeseed oil. Buy cosmetic grade carrier oils, and use only a few drops of essential oil(s) per ounce of carrier oil.

  6. Store Your Oils Properly: Essential oils should be stored only in dark glass containers. Since essential oils are volatile, keep the lids tightly closed. Essential oils and carrier oils should be stored away from heat and light. Carrier oils will go rancid eventually, so it's best to buy smaller quantities.

  7.  Learn How to Do a Patch Test: Essential oils can cause adverse reactions, due to allergy or due to sensitization over time. A patch test helps to determine whether you might react to a particular essential oil. Learn how to perform a skin patch test on yourself with each new oil you want to use topically.

  8.  Don't Use Aromatherapy with Young Children or Pets: Until you are thoroughly familiar with essential oils and associated safety issues, don't use them on children or pets, or while pregnant or breastfeeding. Cats, in particular, may be adversely affected by essential oils. Make sure essential oils are kept out of reach of children.

  9. Check With Manufacturers Before Ingesting Essential Oils: Though you will read conflicting information about taking essential oils internally, you should avoid doing this until you contact the manufacturer for safety guidelines. Some essential oils that are fairly safe to use topically may be quite toxic if taken internally. In addition, some essential oils may interact with prescription or over the counter drugs.

As you experiment with and learn more about aromatherapy, you will become more confident using essential oils. There is so much to explore, so be safe and have fun!

RITUAL FOR GETTING RECOGNIZED IN YOUR WORKPLACE

Are you feeling overworked, overlooked and underappreciated at work? Here's a ritual to raise awareness of your value to your employer. Be certain that you are truly worthy of the appreciation you crave because this ritual calls for your superiors to see you for what you really are and what you really do.

ITEMS NEEDED

  • Business card of your supervisor, manager or other workplace superior

  • Lavender oil

WHAT TO DO

  • Write your name three times over the contact information on the business card.

  • Hold the card with both hands and concentrate on the wonderful contributions you make to the organization.

  • Continue holding the card with both hands and say:

See me for what I am, someone deserving more. See me for what I am, an eagle who can soar. Appreciate me for what I do, I need to know you care. Appreciate me for what I do, open your heart and share.

  • Place the card in a pair of your work shoes and leave it there until you feel appreciated.


SPELL TO NAVIGATE UNEXPECTED CHANGE

Whether positive or negative, sudden change can be inconvenient, unsettling and scary. Unexpected change throws us off balance because it disrupts our flow --- energetically and sometimes materially. Yet all change brings with it new possibilities for improved circumstances, no matter how counterintuitive that may seem at the time.

This spell can help you navigate the choppy waters of unexpected change by shifting your perspective on the situation and rebalancing your energy, opening you up to receive unexpected blessings.

ITEMS NEEDED

  • 1 orange pillar candle

  • Orange or bergamot essentialoil

  • Oil burner or diffuser

  • Journal or writing paper


WHAT TO DO

  • Heat the oil in the burner or disperse int he diffuser, and then sit quietly taking deep breaths with an intention to quiet your mind.

  • When you feel grounded and centered, light th epillar andle and begin to freewrite about the situation.

  • Start by identifying the changes that has happened, and then write about what you liked about the way things were before.

  • Spend some time visualizing what positive developments are possible now that this change has occurred. You don't need to know HOW they may come about --- just open your mind to the potential that this sudden change has made possible. (For example, if you've just lost a job, imagine what new and better opportunities could be coming your way.)

  • Be creative and intuitive with your freewriting. Resist the urge to be logical and analytical, which are common knee jerk reactions to sudden change (scrambling to regain control).

  • As you write, imagine the candle shining a bright orange light upon you and surrounding you in its energetic field.

  • When you're finished, fold up the pages you've written and place them next to the candle. As you do, say the following (or similar words):

Winds of change are the breath of life. I am grounded, centered, and ready for new blessings. So let it be.

  • Place the candle in a special place in your home and know that you can light it whenever you need extra support during this time of change.

  • When some time has passed and you've adjusted to the change, you may want to revisit your freewriting to see how you have shifted since working this spell.

SELF-CLEARING BATH RITUAL

This self-cleansing ritual was designed to cleanse the body, mind and spirit of residual negativity after being involved in magickal battles.

ITEMS NEEDED

  • White candle

  • 9 d. myrrh essential oil

  • 3 d. frankincense essential oil

  • 1/8 c. sea salt

WHAT TO DO

  • Place a white candle so that its light can shine upon you when you are in the tub.

  • Add myrrh oil and frankincense oil to 1/8 cup sea salt and place this next to the bath (do not add to the water yet). Be certain that you will not be disturbed for at least 20 minutes to an hour (preferred).

  • While looking at the candle, recite the following:

Spirits of Fire do I call upon thee. Send thy divine fire and burn through the darkness. Shed thy light upon me and clear the shadows of my soul.

  • Get in the bath and recite the following:

Oh Spirits of Water do I call upon thee. enter this sacred space and lend me thy cleansing powers. From the waters welcome and to water we return.

  • Add the salt mixture to the water and recite the following:

Oh Spirits of Earth do I call upon thee. Ground and disperse all that is not of light. Mix with me and cleanse me of the weight of darkness.

  • Relax and feel the light and warmth. Breathe in the vapors of the oils and recite the following:

Oh Spirits of Air do I call upon thee. Thou are my breath and my life. Let me breathe in thy light and release the smoke of darkness.

  • Breathe and feel the energy about and within you, the light of fire burning away what clings to you. Let the water's warmth wash through you and lift away the darkness. Feel the salt cling to the darkness and ground it for you. Feel your lungs fill with light and carry out the fog of darkness as you exhale. Remain in the bath until you feel that all the darkness that will release has left you.

  • Stand or kneel, and pull the plug from the tub.

  • As the water drains, recite the following:

As we come from the waters so shall we return. Oh Earth, Air, Fire, and Water, take from here the darkness. Disperse it and ground it. Let it weigh upon me no more.

  • Dry off and put out the candle. Thank Divine and the Spirits that have supported your cleansing.

RITUAL RESOLVE FEELINGS OF INADEQUACY

We are living in a time of unlimited possibilities. As paradigms continue to shift, you can either make this moment in time one of defeat or one where you emerge from the smoke winning. It's all about perspective and mindset. lf you're experiencing bouts of inadequacy, this spell will help you clear negative energy from your mind so you can push forward in pursuit of your dreams.

ITEMS NEEDED

  • Basil essential oil

  • 1 tsp. olive oil

  • Small dish

  • 1 black candle

  • Handheld mirror

WHAT TO DO

  • Combine 1 tsp.olive oil with a few drops of basil essential oil in a small dish.

  • Light the black candle

  • Take 3 deep breaths. Inhale slowly through your nose, and exhale fully, releasing any negative thoughts or emotions.

  • Allow the energy of the black candle to dispel negative energy through the entirety of your aura.

  • Anoint the mirror frame with the basil oil. Start at the top and work your way around the mirror frame clockwise. With each cycle around the frame, repeat the following:

I know who I am and I am enough.

  • Repeat the chant over and over until you feel a warm wave of energy washing over you.

  • When finished, extinguish the candle and allow this new energy to infuse as you carry on with your life.

  • Repeat this ritual any time you need a boost of self-confidence.

PAIN RELIEVING BATH SOAK RECIPE & RITUAL

ITEMS NEEDED

  • Muslin bag

  • Dead Sea salts

  • 2 tsp. lavender buds

  • 1 d. lavender essential oil

WHAT TO DO

  • Fill muslin bag 1/2 way with Dead Sea salts.

  • Add 2 tsp. lavender buds.

  • Add one drop of lavender oil.

  • Tie the bag closed and add to a bath.

  • As you feel your body soaking up the herbs, oil and salts, close your eyes and say:

Aches and pains and evil things, fly from me on rapid wings. Leave my body, don’t return, for peace and quiet I do year. Surround me in Her radiant light. Magic Power pure and white. Banish forces of the night.

RITUAL FOR MENTAL CLARITY

If you are having difficulty thinking through a problem or issue, this spell can be helpful to clear your mind. It can cut through the fog and protect your ability to think clearly.

ITEMS NEEDED

  • Yellow candle

  • Candle holder

  • Lemon essential oil

  • Citrine crystal

  • Matches or lighter

WHAT TO DO

  • Center and ground

  • Hold the candle in your hands and say:

Yellow candle be the light that clears the fog.

  • Dab candle with lemon oil and say

Lemon bright, cut through the darkness.

  • Hold the citrine between your hands. Visualize yourself confidently handling a problem. Rub a drop of lemon oil over citrine saying:

Yellow stone, lemon bright, be my insight.

  • Place the citrine at the base of the candle and allow the candle to burn down.

  • Carry the stone with you to benefit from its energy.

LOVE 'EM OR LEAVE 'EM SPELL

This ritual will help you find and return to your center of gravity after a fight or when ending a relationship.

ITEMS NEEDED

  • Rosemary essential oil (calming)

  • Peppermint essential oil (rids you of lethargy)

  • Lavender essential oil (cleansing)

  • Thyme essential oil (helps mental exhaustion)

WHAT TO DO

  • At noon, when the sun is at its most powerful healing position, run a warm bath. Add essential oils under the running faucet.

  • Soak and steam while reciting 4 times:

Sadness, I release you -- goodbye. Fatigue -- I release you -- goodbye. I greet this day anew. I greet my life renewed. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

SPELL TO HEAL FROM LOSS, SEPARATION, DIVORCE

Death, divorce, empty nest, severing ties with close friends and acquaintances --- count it all loss. I've used this Native American ritual a few times and find it very helpful. The greatest shift seems to be a change in one's own perspective about the situation. Make adjustments to suit your belief system. And remember, grief is a process. There is no magic pill. Give yourself time and permission to process your feelings.

ITEMS NEEDED

  • Smudge stick (I like sweetgrass or sage for this one)

  • Matches

  • Bowl or shell

  • Large feather

  • Aromatherapy burner or diffuser

  • Lemon or lavender essential oil

  • Walnut Bach Flower Remedy

  • Glass of spring water

WHAT TO DO

  • Smudge yourself, asking Buffalo to help you start to release the pain and hurt. (Another alternative is to call on Algea --- Greek goddesses of pain and suffering.) Commit to the purpose of letting go.

  • Light your aromatherapy burner or turn on your diffuser with a few drops of lemon and/or lavender oil. Lemon helps us to accept change and let go; lavender gives resolution and helps you to release negative emotions.

  • Sit quietly and breathe deeply. Visualize yourself standing in the middle of a magickal circle. You feel totally safe and protected -- nothing can hurt you within this space. There is another circle nearby and within it is the person from whom you are separated.

  • You are both safe within your circles but you realize that there is a shimmering thread between your solar plexus areas still joining you.

  • Take this opportunity to say anything you wish to say. Remember the good and bad times. If you can, send love and forgiveness to this person. This, of course, will help with your own release.

  • Now, turn around in your circle. There is a silver knife on the ground. Pick it up and carefully cut the cord saying:

I now release us from our past relationship with love and forgiveness.

  • You will feel a tingle of energy as the psychic tie is cut. Spend some time focusing, and imagine how you will move forward with your new life. Then come back to waking consciousness.

  • Take 4 drops of Walnut Bach Flower Remedy in a glass of spring water. This will help your transition to a new life. Take it whenever you need extra help and strength in the time that follows.

HEALING BATH RITUAL FOR SICKNESS

ITEMS NEEDED

  • Silver or White Candle

  • Salt

  • Healing Oil Blend or Healing Essential Oils of Your Choice

WHAT TO DO

  • Take a silver or white candle, salt and a healing oil of your choice into the bathroom. By the candle's light, run a tub of very warm water.

  • Cast some salt into the water and add a few drops of your chosen healing oil.

  • Step into the tub and immerse yourself. Feel the warm water passing through the skin, penetrating your pores, purifying and sterilizing the sick areas of your body.

  • Visualize black worms leaving the body. When you feel the worms in the water in great numbers, pull the plug and let the water drain out. While the water is draining chant:

The sickness is flowing out of me, into the water, down to the sea.

  • After the tub is completely drained, stand up. Turn on the shower and bathe as usual to remove any traces of the sickness.

  • Repeat as needed to speed your body's recovery.

HEALING BATH RITUAL FOR STRESS

ITEMS NEEDED

  • 10 d. Olive Oil

  • 10 d. Cypress Essential Oil

  • 10 d. Lavender Essential Oil

  • Sandalwood Essential Oil

  • Yellow and blue candles

WHAT TO DO

  • Run a tub of hot water. Add 10 drops olive oil, 10 drops cypress oil, and 10 drops lavender oil. Anoint your hands with sandalwood oil. Skim your hand over the surface of the water 7 times while saying:

Into this water, the power I send, Stress shall unwind, wounds shall mend.

  • Light yellow and blue candles. Enter the tub and soak for at least 20 minutes. Visualize the vapor softening your stress and hurts and taking them away.

SELF-HEALING RITUAL

ITEMS NEEDED

  • 1 yellow or white votive candle

  • Eucalyptus or rosemary oil

WHAT TO DO

  • Carve an image of the sun on the candle.

  • Anoint the candle with eucalyptus or rosemary oil.

  • Visualize warm, healing energy flowing into you or the person who needs healing. Imagine it moving into and through every part of the body.

  • Visualize sickness moving out of the body, leaving in health and wellness.

  • Say:

Healing light of love, fill me with your rays. Renew, restore, and burn away all illness with your blaze. Healing fire, fire of love, let your flames devour, every trace of malady, send me strength and power.

  • Allow the candles to burn all the way out.

  • Repeat this ritual as often as you wish.

RITUAL TO BOOST YOUR CONFIDENCE

This ritual is for when you need a boost of confidence. Perhaps you have to speak in front of a group, or are going for an important interview. Maybe you are doing something for the first time and want to make a good impression. Whatever your scenario, this ritual will help steady your nerves and boost your self-esteem.

ITEMS NEEDED

  • 1 orange spell candle

  • Ginger essential oil

WHAT TO DO

  • Anoint candle with ginger essential oil.

  • Light candle and chant while staring into the flame and say:

A clear head and a smart mind. I leave nerves behind. With good ideas and sharp eyes. Nothing will take me by surprise.

  • Repeat the chant at least 8 times; more if you feel so inclined.

  • Allow the candle to burn all the way down.

BLESSING BATH RECIPE & RITUAL

ITEMS NEEDED

  • 1 quart of Himalayan salt or Epsom salt

  • Juice of 2 freshly squeezed lemon

  • 1/2 cup of sesame oil

  • 4 drops each of lavender and jasmine oils

WHAT TO DO

  • Place salt in a large bowl.

  • Add lemon juice, sesame oil, and essential oils.

  • Stir until well mixed.

  • When your tub is 1/3 full, add 1/4 of the salt mixture under the faucet. Inhale deeply.

  • Say these words:

Remove from me anything impure of heart, spirit, and mind. My wish is to once again become whole, free of pain and sadness, and filled with all that is better in me.

  • When the tub is full, step inside and repeat the prayer. Use the rest of the salt to gently massage your body.
